Why Hyatt Place Rameswaram is a different place to be?

This is unquestionably a different place as the brand promises and anything different is definitely my cup of tea. I stayed at the Hyatt Place Rameswaram this week and am simply in love with this hotel. As a history and culture buff, I planned to see Rameswaram due to the utmost importance of Ramanathaswamy temple in the Hindu culture located in the middle of the town.Rameswaram is small island located in Tamil Nadu, the southern part of India and also the point connecting India with Srilanka.

How to reach?

Hyatt Place Rameswaram is just 05 minutes away from the local bus station and just 15 minutes from the nearest railway station. Both these terminal are well connected from rest of India. Rameswaram doesn’t have an airport and the nearest airport is at Madurai, located 170 km via NH 87 and is a drive of 3.5hours by road.

What does this place offer?

I booked for a two nights stay in the month of June, not really the best time to visit this destination due to the scorching heat. I checked in at around 08 am in the morning and the hotel was very hospitable to provide me with an early check-in.

The copper shells and fishes welcoming guests at the hotel’s main porch

The hotel entrance is like an oasis in the sand. It’s just off road to the Ramanathaswamy temple road and appears to be a remote location, however, this location is an ideal one, as the all major places to see around are just next door.

The hotel main porch is adorned with fish and shells like huge copper structure that catches the eyes of visitors. As you finish the security check at the main porch you enter a small portico which is more like a passage to the second section of the lobby. This section has a traditional sitting space at both ends and a huge wall painting depicting the Dhanushkodi beach which is a main local attraction. This quiet lounge also serves as the entrance point to the hotel main lobby and opens its door towards the hotel pool and the restaurant.

The Hotel Lobby

The main lobby of the hotel is long and spacious and very well done with handpicked local artefacts. There are huge sitting spaces with an extension of a small business centre space and a library overlooking a soothing water body. Just grab a book and take a seat here with a cup of coffee. The ceiling above the library lounge is painted with the Pamban Bridge in blue which is another major attraction of this town. Opposite this section is a grab and go display of eatables and drinks which is a great option to satisfy your hunger while you are in hurry. In the centre of the lobby is a small reception where in their gallery hosts are at service of their guests 24*7 as one point of contact.

The Rooms

This hotel has 101 rooms & suites located on three different floors with broad carpeted corridors beautify with long paintings of Ramanathaswamy temple. I booked myself for a standard room, a spacious room with all state of the art facilities. Being a brand of select service category, there were limited amenities however I didn’t actually find any limits and found everything one needs to stay in a hotel.

Every room has a cosy corner with a comfortable spacious couch and also a small terrace space attached to the room which doesn’t really have a view but an open space is always an advantage, isn’t it? There’s a swivelling 42’’flat screen HDTV, separate workspace, in-room safe and a Mini fridge in each room. The bathroom is compact with a separate shower stall with Toto bath fittings. The hotel provides Biotique bath amenities which are harmless and organic. Taking extra care for their lady travellers the hotel provides special “Ladies amenities” in the room which are actually well thought of and needed by the woman travellers.

Dining at this place

The hotel has only one all day dining restaurant called “Gallery Kitchen” dispensing vegetarian Indian, Asian and continental meals paired with Non-alcoholic beverages. The breakfast buffet I tasted all 03 days was sumptuous with varied options available at the buffet and as ala carte hot breakfast choices. Well if one is in this part of India do try a Dosa (A south Indian savoury pancake made from fermented batter) or Idli ( A south Indian savoury delicacy made by steaming fermented rice) over a choco chip pancake.  For lunch and dinner they have limited options available from almost all parts of the world and if there isn’t something on the menu that your palate demands, the hotel chefs are always ready to provide a bespoke culinary experience.

Unfortunately, the hotel has to abide by the local law of maintaining the hotels without alcohol. The hotel has experimented into the space of “Coffee to Beverage Bar” to keep their guests refreshed with a selection of speciality beverages, juices, and mocktails by the poolside.

My Favorite is this specially crafted mocktail “Saffron Heaven”. Don’t ask for recipes indeed try one at this place.

Fitness at this place

Even though a select service establishment, this place doesn’t leave a chance to impress with the entire features one needs to relax and stay fit. The hotel has an outdoor pool, not the one you can dive but prearranges enough for a relaxing swim. Hyatt Place also offers a 24*7 gym with life fitness equipment.

Services at this place

The best attribute of any hotel – The services! Hyatt place Rameswaram is a small and warm hotel, with the warmth being enriched by its People. Each one engaged with their guests to make them feel at home and comfortable. They are not bound by processes and are flexible in their approach to provide a very genuine hospitality to their guests. “Genuine” is the key word because nothing came as being forced or bound to do by any employee and especially their smiles. Service by the people at Hyatt Place Rameswaram is its utmost feature as experienced by me from check-in till the fond goodbye.
